Our Story
It began with a quiet moment — a mother watching her daughter discover the world for the first time.
Every day, Rasgun pointed at the little things around her — a cup, a bird, her tiny hands — waiting to learn what they were called. I wanted her to grow up knowing these everyday things in the language of her roots: the words of her grandparents, the warmth of our family, and the stories woven in Punjabi.
I went searching for Punjabi learning toys — something simple to help her recognize the world in our language. To my surprise, there were not many options that truly suited what I was looking for.
That's when the idea of creating our own Punjabi learning toy began to take shape.
I imagined a talking Punjabi learning device — one that could speak, teach, and play alongside a child. A toy that could turn everyday moments into learning, laughter, and connection. A toy that could travel from living rooms in Canada to grandparents' homes in Punjab, carrying the same familiar words.
We wanted it to be:
- ✓Portable — so learning could happen anywhere
- ✓Meaningful — with words children use every day: greetings, family, fruits, body parts, and more
- ✓Affordable — so no parent would have to choose between culture and cost
- ✓Joyful — because children learn best through play
And so, with love, late nights, and a dream for our daughter's future, the RasRoots Punjabi Learning Device was born.
RasRoots is more than a toy. It is a bridge between generations. A whisper of heritage in a child's voice.
